I Hereby Commence This Book Club
And I'm going to the Kentucky Derby!
A brief post today to catch up on some house business:
1. Why I’ll be MIA: Please forgive my lack of posts or haphazard posting schedule for the next couple of weeks because I will be living 10-year-old me’s dream and attending THE Kentucky Derby for my job at The Athletic!
2. I did watch Civil War this week and have THOUGHTS. I mostly enjoyed it and thought they generally succeeded at what they were trying to do [very “journalism is important” vibe], but it was less than I thought it would be. My friend Laura, who watched it with me, said, “It felt like it wanted to be a thesis, but it was a middle-school paper.” Harsh! Longer thoughts coming!
3. I hate to agree with CNN, but 👇🏼 this is absolutely me👇🏼 and thank you to reader KMac for sending me this after I texted in the wee hours one morning: “This album is so f***ing good.” Also, this satire piece is hilarious: Tortured poets discuss Taylor Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’.
4. Most importantly, before I disappear into the horse-racing ether, I Hereby Commence this “The Social Climber” Book Club!!!!
