Hannah, this was so much fun! First, such good customer service: providing links all over the place. I clicked them all and had them open for a good read later, didn't want to stop reading YOUR stuff. Second, all those toy movies coming, so amazing. Third, thank you for pointing out the feminist perspective -- I miss all of that. Good to know! I loved Ilsa, dammit. FOR NO REASON. Yeah! But, kill Benji? He's the main reason I watch -- if there's no light-heartedness somewhere I DIE. I dozed 3 times. I usually doze during chase scenes, but that little yellow car! Fourth, on the music, I was whistling the them song in the Tinseltown restroom afterwards, just couldn't' stop and didn't care. O this was fun, thank you!
I always wonder if the links are too much or too distracting or too overwhelming, but I love resources!! Glad you appreciate!
Oh yeah I would HATE it if they actually killed Benji, but man, why is it ALWAYS the women that are expendable!? Booo!! But Benji is totally my favorite parts, too. heeehee.
Yes, I was actually engaged with the chase scene this time -- the little yellow car! And the energy between Ethan and the woman was so good and fun and funny, they did that so well.
Ah, such fun when you respond! So many things to think about and revisit!
LOTR. It may not be as recognizable by lesser nerds BUT it is exactly what TROP was missing and would have helped it be great. A score or soundtrack can make a movie.
I'd say GOT is a fairly recognizable opening credits but maybe not full score.
What a great point about rings of power! It was totally missing that inhabited, unique sense of place and time that the score gave LOTR.
Yeah opening credits of GoT is a really good one! I bet everyone knows that, and some people even will sing it jokingly in other contexts (the true mark of a soundtrack "canon" if you ask me!)
Also it should be known that my 2 year old regularly requests "shark" ...which in most homes is likely baby shark but in ours, is a request for John Williams "Shark Attack" from Jaws 😂
Mission Impossible really was a great singable theme. There's plenty of other instantly recognizable themes, but not many that have a meaning of their own. Wikipedia tells me Lalo Schifrin also composed the score for Amityville Horror (1979) and I don't know what to do with that information.
ooh that's interesting! *immediately googles Amityville Horror soundtrack* That's a good one, definitely something I recognize, though certainly not famed at the level of others . Old Lalo really hit the jackpot with Mission Impossible!
Annah, this was such a blast! First off, amazing customer service: dropping links everywhere. I clicked them all, left them open to read later because I couldn’t stop enjoying YOUR content. Second, all those toy movies coming out are just incredible. Third, I really appreciate you highlighting the feminist angle — I totally missed that! I adored Ilsa, for no logical reason. But seriously, kill Benji? He’s one of the main reasons I tune in — without some light-heartedness, I’m done. I nodded off a few times — chase scenes always do that to me — but that little yellow car kept me going! Lastly, the music got stuck in my head — I was whistling the theme song in the Tinseltown restroom after the movie and just didn’t care. This was such a great read, thanks for the fun!
Thank you for this useful information, after reading this I have collected so much information about many things and about this page as well. I am a fashion blogger. You can check my work by visiting this.
the M:I theme was the soundtrack of mine and Anna’s first kiss (from the DVD menu playing in the background) so it has a special place in my heart.
1. Another that I think should be on the list is the West Wing theme. It goes so hard and I dance along every time. Kinda too niche to be up there with Jaws, though.
2. I’m struggling to think of new iconic themes. Buffy? Guess that’s not even that new anymore. Harry Potter is definitely recognizable but not as iconic imo.
Fully thought you were joking about the new MCU but then I googled J.J. Abrams Hot Wheels.
Totally agree with your feminist takes on the M:I films. #2 is the worst offender but if the fan theory is incorrect about DR P1, it will definitely outrank #2 for me in most sexist storytelling.
I loved that the new one sort of made America one of the villains too (an anti-Top Gun moment). As a lesbian, I adored the menswear but I do see a missed opportunity to put Rebecca Ferguson in another stellar evening gown.
I saw Joy Ride and LOVED it and also saw No Hard Feelings and HATED it. Have you seen either yet? Would love to hear your takes.

I truly just BELLY LAUGHED.
Continued proof your child is my BFF I've never met???

Sending the best for your mother's health!

Thanks so much for the healthful wishes.
