Okay well that's a GREAT question. Here's the thing -- I don't like it necessarily as like a "pretty thing" but the look is so WELL DONE. It's so complete, from her hair to her eye liner to the hemlines and cut. It's OSTENTATIOUS! I love that about it. It's a whole "lewk" and every detail serves. Does that make sense?? But all that to say -- Tessa Thompson is still the KING (King = #1, Queen = #2 in my extremely sexist ranking system).
Just here to say I also just watched the first two episodes of The Rings of Power (also coming from a obsessively watching Lord of the Rings, homeschooled childhood) and I agree with most of your points. I’m honestly just going to watch it all to see how it connects to the characters we know and love and then when I understand the connections, I will rewatch the true masterpieces for the 100th time feeling like I now truly know the full story. Or something.
Love to hear this!!! Truly, after finishing it, I felt equally 1) unimpressed and 2) IN DESPAIR I COULD NOT QUEUE UP THE NEXT ONE. lol
I will say that perhaps the most fun that has come out of it is all the conversations I've had this week with other true fans teasing out the finer points and the mythologies and the stuff we can't remember and the stuff we're hoping for!

I swear that as soon as the show came on, a deep dark folder of my brain popped open and unlocked memories I didn't know I had. It was shocking and ENCHANTING all at once. Ben was literally looking over at me in sheer terror at one point. 🤣 (That's when he had his epiphany about LOTR keeping kids abstinent.) Thankfully, Hutty was here to back me up!!
