Sorry, what were the imperfections to Shang-Chi? Cause I got ZERO. Like, maybe the lack of resolve to the family issues, but it’s in my top 5 superhero movies (avengers got the boot). The time line was very unusual for superhero stories and they did it in such a way that you were intrigued and not just confused, you had BEAUTIFUL cinematography all. The. Time. So well done, you almost forget there’s an amazing fight scene happening, AND the characters who were raised in China SPOKE Chinese to each other (so sorry this is a radical idea in film).
If that doesn’t sway you, I went in to see it on 4.5 hours of sleep, movie started AT my bed time, and I was never bored by it.
Hahahahahahahaha okay okay wow I don’t know if you want to HEAR these but I thought the ending was a little drawn out okay, so sue me!!! 😂😂 Most superhero movies lose me in the last battle scenes and this one at least kept me interested for most of it. I like the one-on-one stuff best, and Shang-Chi had such amazing hand-to-hand fighting I wanted more of it in the end. Also I’m on the fence about whether Simu Liu’s understated presence was a drawback or just exactly what was needed for the character and to draw out the INCREDIBLE supporting cast (esp Tony Leung and Michelle Yeoh). Leaning towards it being perfect haha.
In terms of my Enjoyment Meter, though, this was turned up all the way the entire time!!!!!!
Ok, fair. Just was curious cause you were singing it’s praises and also saying it wasn’t perfect. I do think they intentionally made the story about the family as a unit and individuals instead of solely focusing on Shang-chi (making every member of the family sympathetic and a contributor to their dysfunction). As for the final battle, I attribute that to Marvel remembering the have all the money in the world and can spend it on 10 more minutes of a CGI dragon battling a CGI….demon of my nightmares?
I swear if J-Lo hadn't already created Google Images before this look would've done it too. Thanks for sharing, as always! I love, love your curated picks
Ahhh!!! So excited to hear about some new movies I’ll actually enjoy! YESSSSS!!!!!
You have to tell me what you think if you end up watching!!!
