You put my feelings on the Barbie discourse into actual words! Internet discourse (virtue platforming) is a silly place. Ryan Gosling was the beans in Barbie, standing in for both the patriarchy AND the person "only having identity in belonging to someone else " within patriarchy, which HOW does one pull THAT off?!!?
Your Barbie perspective was so enlightening!! I was so ready to jump on the miffed bandwagon, but what a helpful (and entertaining) explanation of all the things!!!!
I was ready, too! And then it got so overblown so fast. And I realized Margot and Greta HAD been nominated for Oscars, just in other categories. The one I DO think neared a snub was Greta not being in Best Director. She was nominated for Lady Bird, but not Little Women or Barbie. I feel like her Director Oscar is inevitable one day, but still. She's so amazing.
Congrats on the gig. As a working stiff with a former self-employed life, I understand the quiet pride in landing a decent straight job. May it turnout well!

HOW does one pull that off!!?? It was miraculous work!!
"silly place" is a great description of the Internet haha. It encompasses both the wonderful and the terrible.
