I can so relate to both of your topics!! In the late 2000's Johnny and I watched a reality show starring Victoria Beckham, about her move from the UK to LA. It was a bit staged but she was fresh and fun. I have no idea what she's been up to since the last show!

I'm so happy you're watching the Golden Bachelor, so I can hear your take on it! Johnny and I have been followers of The Bachelor since the beginning, mostly for comic relief but also because we're hopeless romantics.😊 And now a Bachelor show for my age group!! I laughed at your comment, "They're old enough to know better?!" It IS a bit cringe-y! I do think the small-minded producers are behind some of the gimmicks the women have engaged in, which bugs me because I don't want the women to feel that they have to be like 20-somethings to be interesting for the show. There IS something refreshing about this group, because they don't have a side angle of gaining Instagram followers or their social media presence. But I find myself feeling protective of them because, unlike the 20-somethings, they don't have their whole lives ahead of them to meet someone if this doesn't work out, so they seem more fragile to me. And I'm not sure HE can handle it; he teared up at the second rose ceremony! Anyhoo, I hope I'm underestimating all of them and they end up glad they did the show!!

Fresh and fun! She absolutely is! She says surprising things, she's so witty. It was really fun to see her react to David's life over the years; she's very defensive of him and yet also very like not going to change her perspective for anyone.

We must keep chatting about the Golden Bachelor! You and Johnny the hopeless romantics makes me so happy haha. I totally agree that many of the cringe-iest moments seemed completely thought up by the producers, and I felt frustrated by that and sorry for the contestants. I wish the production had thought of ways to mix the format up MORE than just the ages. They're relying on the same tropes and beats they use with the younger contestants and it's just kind of jarring! You're so right that it's likely more a production problem than the women or Gerry themselves.

Oh and speaking of Gerry, I totally feel protective of him, too, and like he can't handle it! He was sobbing within the first four minutes of the first broadcast!! This is too much!

But I bet they'll have so much fun. I liked how they seem pretty supportive of each other, or at least of Nancy. That's unusual and new!

Yes Hannah, the production crew missed a great opportunity to do something original with this group. So unimaginative!! And I've got to learn the names of these people so I can have an intelligent conversation, not just "the one who cried in the wedding dress"πŸ˜„ And who is this Nancy you speak of; she's probably the one in the wedding dress!!

And thank you Hannah, for the beautiful postscript. Yes, the world is too much sometimes and I thank you for your words, and also for this space of lightness.❀️❀️

I’m also #teamedith but think he’ll end up picking either Faith or Theresa. Agree on the disappointment at how they all act like 20 something’s. Was hoping for a more mature take on the Bachelor concept! Alas I will continue to watch anyway.

Ugh I think you're right and Faith and Theresa are my two LEAST favorites. In the first episode when Faith pulled out her guitar I said, "Please send her home." Instead, she got the rose!! Alas, it seems Gerry is a soft-hearted romantic.

Yeah, I think it's that the show is no different AT ALL except that they're older. I thought maybe they'd try some creative new formats or something....

I have only watched 2 episodes of Bake Off so far, but I love the Scottish beaver lady (🫣 sorry what’s her name??) and Tish...Tasha... but also I think Josh (?? young kid, what’s his name?) is potential cuz he’s a science type and they seek to rock Bake Off a lot!
